K-pop star Twice Jihyo has recently released her first mini-album ZONE and its title track Killin’ Me Good. From debuting in one of the biggest K-pop girl groups in the world to starting her own solo journey years later, Jihyo can be easily considered an industry veteran who knows a thing or two about surviving in the K-pop world.
Jihyo joined her current music label JYP Entertainment at the age of eight and trained for almost two decades before becoming one of the biggest K-pop powerhouse performers. But Jihyo’s journey to the top wasn’t as easy as the K-pop star talks about the time she felt a ‘little lost’ and how she navigated her job as a ‘singer.’

Twice Jihyo opens up about her K-pop career and solo beginning
Twice Jihyo is candid in talking about her K-pop career after almost two decades of starting her journey in the entertainment industry in a recent interview. The singer gushed: “Working this many years in the industry has helped me accumulate a lot of data. There was a lot of input to take into consideration. Like, the public might like me in this certain image, but I know I might be more personally satisfied when performing a different style.”
She added: “While I began thinking about my image and what people anticipated from me as an artist, I found that people seem to really like my healthy and bright image.”
Jihyo talks about the inspiration behind Zone
K-pop star Jihyo’s solo album Zone is a celebration of feelings, a montage of everything that it takes to fall in love and steer through various emotions. But what inspired Jihyo to choose the concept?
The K-pop queen revealed that while Twice is all about bright feelings and happy emotions in their group songs, she wanted to explore something else for her solo album, especially the “feelings of being alone and sad.” She adds: “That was the main focus of this album: to show different sides of me. I wanted my lyrics to be really honest and transparent. I wanted to express emotions that were a bit more aggressive.”
Jihyo’s makes new history with Zone
Zihyo’s honest efforts have resonated with fans who made the album a huge success across the globe within days of its release. In South Korea, Jihyo’s Zone garnered half a million sales in just the first week of its release- from August 18 to 24, the album sold a whopping number of 534,565 copies.
Her impressive achievement with Zone makes her the third K-pop female soloist in history to sell half a million album copies within the first week.
